Center for Law and Interdisciplinary Integration

[Purpose of Establishmemt and Target]

(一)Purpose

This passage discusses the challenges that lawyers face in the 21st century due to the complex and evolving nature of the international community and the rapid development of new technologies. With regards to the international community, there are tensions and conflicts arising from differences in values and political systems, and lawyers must be able to engage in interdisciplinary dialogue to develop regulations that meet future needs. As for technology, the emergence of digital networks, biotechnology, nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence creates new legal issues that require interdisciplinary analysis to develop appropriate regulations.
The author emphasizes the need for interdisciplinary integration and analysis to effectively respond to these challenges. This involves going beyond traditional empirical legal studies and engaging in interdisciplinary dialogue with human and social sciences to develop regulations that are suitable for the future. The author also notes that interdisciplinary integration does not mean abandoning the foundation of legal studies, but rather deepening the analysis of legal concepts to provide meaningful insights into interdisciplinary issues.
Overall, the purpose of the Law and Interdisciplinary Integration Research Center is to deepen research in the field of law and to promote interdisciplinary integration. The author suggests that this integration must be preceded by a deep understanding of legal concepts, and that interdisciplinary integration and legal analysis should be seen as complementary rather than competing.

(二)Target

Following the two aforementioned objectives, our center aims to achieve the following goals:
1. Regarding the goal of "deepening research in the field of law":
Our center conducts extensive research in various areas of law, including public or private law, domestic or foreign law, legal theory, legal history, and law and economics. As previously mentioned, interdisciplinary legal studies often involve more than one discipline. Therefore, to achieve interdisciplinary integration and deepen research in the field of law, our center aims to cover a broad range of subjects.
2. Regarding the goal of "implementing interdisciplinary integration":
Interdisciplinary integration can be categorized into two types:
(1) Integration within the field of law, such as the integration of civil law and patent law, or the integration of criminal law and securities law.
(2) Integration between the field of law and other fields, such as the integration of international public law and geopolitics, the integration of patent law and artificial intelligence and digital currency, the integration of fair trade law and fashion design, and the integration of criminal law and media communication.
By following the two aforementioned objectives and achieving the above goals, our center's development plan aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by meeting the requirements of Goal 9, "Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation," and Goal 10, "Reduce inequality within and among countries."
